SPECIAL TRIBUTE/BENEFIT FOR LEGENDARY SINGER/SONGWRITER MARK MULCAHY. In 1983, Dave Zamboni made a bet with his brother that a local band called Miracle Legion would be more famous than newish bands called U2 and REM. Well, the bet was who would have fame, that part he admits was a loss but, Dave still claims that if the bet was who has better songs, to this day, he insist Mark's solo stuff and Miracle Legions 5 or 6 records are victors. Check out the tribute album that recently came out for Mark and you will see he is not alone. Thom Yorke from Radiohead, Michael Stipe of REM, The National, Ben Kweller, Frank Black from The Pixies and tons more have covered Mark's songs with all proceeds going to Mark to help him out of a sad situation. Mark's wife suddenly passed at 31 leaving Mark raising his two young children alone. We are honored to be part of such a special concert for an old friend and huge influence on our band. While broadcasting all last week from the NHL Live studios at the Reebok NHL Store in NYC, he voiced his love of our special hockey rock and played some Zambonis tunes to boot. For the record, no money was exchanged for the airplay nor did we send out our goon 6 foot 7 inch drummer to imply he should play a Zamboni song or 4. Here is a video of a great rockabilly/twangy/countrified cover of our tune "The Helmet Song" by a sweet band called THE BIG FAT COMBO. Nice job fellas! Zambonis Shawn Fogel and Dave Schneider have a new kids band and record coming out in November on J-dub Records. The band is called The Macaroons and the record is titled "Let's Go Coconuts". It's fun, sweet and, fun again. Things are just getting rolling so join 'em early at WWW.MYSPACE/MACAROONS and look for a tour in December. Shawn of THE ZAMBONIS has his own band Golden Bloom which features SHAWN, SHAWN and SHAWN on all instruments. He just released a fantastic CD titled "Fan The Flames". Without such a genius invention as the motorized ice-resurfacing machine the game would not be what it is today. Lucky for us, had he not invented the Zamboni, our all-hockey band would be called "The Painstakingly Slow Ice Shovelers." We Zambonis are very excited to be the guest on Hockey Talk With Bubba (Bob Wilkie) and The Hammer (Dave Schultz) on June 2nd. It hits the air live and then will be streaming for eternity so basically, you can't miss it. The show itself is not your average sports show. Like our band, they talk hockey but, also life, struggles, passion and more. He is an author, international speaker, and a self image expert. Bob is also a survivor of the Swift Current bus accident and teaches a mentorship program for young aspiring athletes. The band will be playing a pre-game concert in front of the arena in the freezing cold with some awesome heaters blowing on them. They will then move inside the toasty/historical ice hockey arena and will be performing throughout all the games. This is where "The Miracle" happened in 1980. .......USA USA USA 03-11-2009 The fine Goons / tasteful gents at Smashmouth Hockey have posted up an interview with we Zambonis on their highly popular site. We like these guys so much we have reached an agreement that The Zambonis will be writing them a theme song for their site. That agreement was reached on a Monday, we wrote and recorded the song that night and it should be in use somewhere on their site in the next week or so. We are so proud to be a part of one of our favorite performers/pals tribute cd! Atom Gorin had a band called Atom and His Package that
rocked the world for about 10 years. He then was diagnosed with Diabetes which was part of the reason he called it quits on his career
in rock and roll. We toured a couple times with Atom. He is a class act dude and a great friend to this day. The song is a classic called
"Goalie". It was actually recorded here in Bridgeport at our Tarquin Studios with not only ALL ZAMBONIS past and present but also Atom's
kids and all Zambonis kids. It was a BIG TIME family affair. Atom and we Zambonis are really happy with the way the song came out. We hope you are too. $4 of each cd sold goes to the American Diabetes Fund.
